Natural slate is probably the best roofing material in the world and has been used by man for thousands of years. Not only will good quality slate outlast other roofing materials, but when fitted properly, it will frequently outlive the lifetime of its building. The lively market for second hand slates bears this out.

Slate retains its colour and although it may weather with age, it will not fade. It is also an environmentally sound product, as it is quarried from a natural source rather than manufactured using industrial processes. In addition, it is non combustible and is compatible with all other building materials. A slate roof is easily maintained, making it an economical choice, and it is available in a variety of sizes, colours and textures.

Bangor Blue (Wales)	Common Sizes: 500mm x 300mm (20” x 12”) 600 x 300 (24” x 12”) Other sizes available for heritage projects where slates need to match existing Bangor Blue is widely acknowledged to be the best roofing slate in the world. Produced in Capital (6mm), County (8mm), and Celtic (10mm)
Ffestiniog (Wales)	Common Sizes: 500mm x 250mm (20” x 10”) 500mm x 300mm (20” x 12”) 600mm x 300mm (24” x 12”) Other sizes available for heritage projects where slates need to match existing The mid-grey Ffestiniog has the same quality credentials as Bangor Blue. Produced in Capital (6mm), County (8mm)
Forna (Spain)	Common Sizes: 500mm x 250mm (20” x 10”) Forna slates have a smooth-textured face and a mid to dark grey colour. They are easily worked and come in Prime and Ultra grades
Vigo (Spain)	Common Sizes: 500mm x 250mm (20” x 10”) 600mm x 300mm (24” x 12”) Available in 5mm and 7mm thicknesses Vigo slates have a noticeably textured face and are mid-grey in colour. This is one of our most popular slates due to its pricing and quality mix.
Leon (Spain)	Common Sizes: 500mm x 250mm (20” x 10”) Leon slates have a slightly textured face and are the thinnest grade in our portfolio. They are dark grey in colour.
La Barrosa (Spain)	Common Sizes: 500mm x 250mm (20” x 10”) 600mm x 300mm (24” x 12”) La Barrosa slates have a highly textured face and are exceptional value. They are mid-grey in colour.
Rio Green (Brazil)	Common Sizes: 500mm x 250mm (20” x 10”) 600mm x 300mm (24” x 12”) Rio slates are fixed using hooks instead of copper nails. They are great value and suitable for most roofing projects, particularly where a green slate is required. Not suitable for curved roofs where a lot of cutting is required.
Rio Grey (Brazil)	Common Sizes: 500mm x 250mm (20” x 10”) 600mm x 300mm (24” x 12”) Rio slates are fixed using hooks instead of copper nails. They are great value and suitable for most roofing projects. Not suitable for curved roofs where a lot of cutting is required.
Vermont Green (USA)	Common Sizes: 450mm x Random Widths Green with flecks of black, Vermont Green are popular with architects on whole projects or where bands of coloured slates are required. Skilled roofer needed to ensure correct sidelap is maintained.
